His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
"Wise parents, without any anger, may sometime scold or even punish their children. This is permissiable, but if you really get angry and whack the child too much, then you yourself will feel regret in the future. However, with a good motivation of seeling a child's welfare, it is possible to display an expression appropriate to what the child needs at the moment."
"Incase of a small child, the child has to grow up into a well-built young man but the growth takes place with passage of time. It can not happen overnight. Likewise the transformation of mind will take time. Nowadays in many places, by using certain injections, pigs, cows, and birds are suddenly grow. Then they are killed and consumed. This negative practice also has an effect on human being. So, when we talk for spiritual practices, we can not inject certain qaulities and suddenly transfrom the mind."
